Educators Peer Coaching Process – Condensed

Note: With the full process the Inviting Educator, with the Coach’s support, identifies baseline data and how progress will be determined. More time is allotted for the overall coaching process.

Coach is time keeper.

Inviting Educator (IE) identify a Focus you would like to enhance or add to your practices. Peer Coach can help if IE would like. 2-3 minutes.

IE share your Focus topic with your Peer Coach. You and your Peer Coach see if it can be narrowed down, be made more specific. Coach if you aren’t understanding the Focus, ask clarifying questions. 2-3 minutes.

IE phrase your Narrowed Down Focus as a question. Peer Coach available to help as needed. Record the Narrowed Down Focus question. 2 minutes.

IE and Peer Coach together brainstorm possible ways to address the Focus Question.
Coach: begin by asking for IE’s ideas of how they might address the Focus.
– Then Coach offers suggestions.
IE and Coach discuss.
IE and Coach take notes. 5 minutes.

IE and Coach individually look online for strategies related to the Focus Question. Both take notes.
3 minutes.

IE and Coach discuss each person’s findings. From the online findings and the previous brainstorming, IE chooses a strategy to try. Make note of the strategy you will try. 5 minutes.

Total time: 15 – 20 minutes.
