Volunteers are an integral part of For Deeper Learning and Deeper Learning Journal of Practice. Volunteers help promote deeper learning resources such as implementation resources, journal articles, blog posts, newsletters, and high quality workshops.
The positions are part-time, remote, and generally with a flexible schedule.

Social Media Specialist
Position Summary:
The Social Media Specialist helps grow For Deeper Learning’s online presence by managing and creating engaging digital content that aligns with the organization’s mission.
Responsibilities:
The Specialist develops, schedules, and posts content across social media platforms, creates visual and written content highlighting events, publications, and educational insights, monitors engagement and analytics to inform future posts, and collaborates with the marketing and editorial teams to ensure consistent messaging.
Qualifications:
Experience with Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube,TikTok, or BlueSky is helpful. Strong writing, design, and communication skills are desired, as well as knowledge of current trends in digital engagement and a passion for education and creative storytelling.

Operations and Database Assistant
Position Summary:
The Operations and Database Assistant supports the day-to-day administrative functions of For Deeper Learning. This position helps maintain accurate records, organize internal systems, and ensure efficient communication and operations within the nonprofit.
Responsibilities:
This position maintains and updates contact databases, mailing lists, and donor information, assists with scheduling, file management, and general administrative tasks, supports online event coordination and workshop registration, helps track volunteer hours and participation, and provides support for data collection and reporting to improve organizational efficiency.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing digital information. Familiarity with Excel, Google Workspace, or other data management systems is helpful. Strong written and verbal communication skills and an interest in nonprofit operations or education administration are preferred.

Environmental Studies Educator
Position Summary:
The Environmental Studies Educator develops and curates educational content that connects environmental awareness with deeper learning principles. This position supports the creation of lesson plans, digital resources, and interactive learning materials.
Responsibilities:
This position designs or adapts lesson materials and activities for environmental learning, develops short articles or posts highlighting sustainability and education connections, supports planning and delivery of online or community workshops, and collaborates with the editorial team to integrate environmental topics into publications.
Qualifications:
A background in environmental studies, ecology, or sustainability education is preferred. Experience in teaching or curriculum development is helpful, along with strong writing and presentation skills and enthusiasm for experiential and inquiry-based learning.

Advertising/Marketing Specialist
Position Summary:
The Advertising/Marketing Specialist assists in increasing awareness and engagement with For Deeper Learning programs, resources, and publications. This role involves creative strategy, outreach, and brand development.
Responsibilities:
The Specialist develops marketing materials and promotional campaigns, coordinates newsletter and email outreach, identifies partnership and sponsorship opportunities, tracks engagement analytics, recommends outreach improvements, and helps maintain consistent messaging across platforms.
Qualifications:
Strong communication and marketing skills are important. Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, or similar marketing tools is a plus. The position requires creative and strategic thinking about audience engagement and an interest in nonprofit and educational communications.

Video/Audio Technician & Co-Producer
Position Summary:
The Video/Audio Technician & Co-Producer assists in creating high-quality multimedia content for workshops, webinars, and Deeper Learning Journal of Practice. This position combines technical production with creative storytelling.
Responsibilities:
This position records, edits, and produces short educational videos or podcast segments, assists with post-production tasks such as captioning, graphics, and sound mixing, supports live-streamed or recorded workshops and interviews, and collaborates with educators and staff to develop multimedia content.
Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of video and audio editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Audacity, or iMovie is useful. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, visual storytelling skills, reliability with managing files, and an interest in media production for education and nonprofit communication.

Gain hands-on experience in educational media production and have the opportunity to be credited in published videos or podcasts.
Research Assistant
Position Summary:
The Research Assistant contributes to ongoing research and writing. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about education, learning theory, and evidence-based teaching that forwards learners’ deeper learning.
Responsibilities:
T he Research Assistant conducts literature searches and summarizes relevant educational research, assists in compiling references, citations, and annotated bibliographies, supports article drafting, editing, and formatting, helps maintain research archives and digital libraries, and contributes ideas to emerging topics and themes related to deeper learning.
Qualifications:
Strong academic writing and analytical skills are essential. Experience with APA or other citation formats is preferred, along with an interest in education, psychology, or learning sciences. The position requires someone self-motivated and able to work independently.
