Heather J. Perry

Heather J. Perry, PhD, For Deeper Learning Board member, is Superintendent of Schools for the Gorham School Department, Gorham, Maine where she has served the community, beginning in 2015.The Gorham School Department serves approximately 2,800 students in Cumberland County, Maine. In her twenty-five years of experience as a Maine public school employee, she has worked her way up from the role of an educational technician, to a middle school social studies teacher, to a building principal, and for the past fifteen years has served as a passionate superintendent.

Dr. Perry received her PhD from the University of Southern Maine in Public Policy, her Masters of Educational Leadership from the University of Maine, and her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Maine at Machias. 

 She currently chairs the Maine School Superintendent Association’s (MSSA) State-Wide Funding Committee and serves as a member of MSSA’s Executive Board and AASA Governing Board. She is also a graduate of the Maine Development Foundation’s Educational Leaders Experience, Alpha class.  

Previously Heather Perry served as president of the Penquis and Kennebec Regional Superintendent Associations, Vice President of the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council, Trustee for the Moosehead Historical Society, Board member for Jobs for Maine Graduates (JMG), and chaired the National Rural Trust Finance Policy Committee.
